Firstly, happy new year to all my blog readers out there! Today, I was reading a rather large article on the multitude of consoles out there. So far, there have been seven generations. This all started with Magnavox Odyssey. It sold extremely poorly although it was the first game console out there. It also had a small graphics card, only a few colours available on it. However, from this day onwards, gaming consoles would be in the mind of most people, if not everyone. In 1975, the second generation was born. The Atari Pong, Odyssey 100 and 200 were made. These became a good seller, moving people into playing games. In the next year, 9 more consoles were to be sold in shops. Nowadays, three notable consoles are around. The Nintendo Wii, the market leader, the Xbox 360, only slightly behind and the PS3, which is rather far behind. Every console has its strength in weaknesses and there fair share of problems. The market has just about been stolen and if anyone wants to go into making consoles, they simply can't. However up to now, some consoles will be remembered forever! But the one I want to talk about, is the nes. A great hit with everyone, the Nes, or famicon was enjoyable. An 8 bit graphics card (which was legendary for the time period) was included within a smart package. A series of games were released on it, including the super smash bros. which made 40 million! The NES has made Mario a memorable figure. This brings me onto my next topic... the RETRO competition that zerosoft is holding. This Competition seems like one I'm going to enter as it is interesting. Is anyone else entering this? I would enjoy a bit of friendly competition! I have an idea and plan to work on it over the weekend, but thats it for now. If you would like to see the retro comp... click here: http://s10.zetaboards.com/Zerosoft/topic/7067949/1/]Zerosoft Thanks, osl.
Hello there and Merry Christmas. I know not everybody celebrates this holiday period so Happy Winter to all others! I get really annoyed with myself when I develop a game so far and then stop it. I now have quite a few games in my documents now, some of them not half done. Some of the time, I think that they are rubbish, other times I just haven't got the time. Myself, I prefer good games you can pick up and play, not those where you have to learn a control for every single button in front of you. Some these games are good though, an example is fifa 09. I really do find it frustrating when I don't finish a game. Yet I can't be bothered to go back to it either, as I would think other people think it is rubbish. You really need belief to make a game, not just good skills on a computer (some of which I haven't got). Belief makes good games better. I only finished Helipad because it didn't take too long to make. I need self belief. And to all those new game makers, belief is one of the keys to being good. And thats why I am not actually developing anything yet. On my desk is a handful of game ideas I could do. But I need the self belief to continue, to further these ideas. And now I am making myself seem sad. Although I'm not. I have actually developed a minigame for the GMarcade coin stores! Another thing for you to buy. And it is in the coin stores right this moment! This is only available to GMA members though and costs 75 coins (which is cheap). But what is it? It is the Slide- Puzzle Minigame. A small minigame where you slide around the arena and try to finish! You can't move in a different direction while your moving though and watch for mines! That's not all. The GMK is included in the folder! Meaning you can look and make your own mini puzzle game! To get to it, press the coin stores button, in the User Menu for all members. Enjoy! So, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Before you exit this post though, I wonder if you would like to take part in a poll (I just found this thing on the styles list?(Ok, it dosen't work! Just comment instead...)) What is most important in a game? Gameplay (2 vote(including me)) Graphics Story Sound Addictivity Thanks for reading! osl
Sorry I haven't posted in a while. But when I came online today, and looked at coins.... It seemed amazing. What a great idea the admin has come up with, and it will tempt me onto this site for ages. No games are being worked on at the moment, but small, mangeable ideas are coming into my head. If there are any games you had ideas for, or want to give me to (try and) execute, feel free. Also, I want to rsate more games! If there is a game you want me to rate, PM me! ++++ Recently, I have been enjoying many games on this site. My most favourite at the moment though is definetly 4 wheel fury. This game is extremely well done, as well as it's 3d aspect. Including all this, there are many great game modes, with a good AI. I think this is truly amazing! So thats it for now, please continue to play and comment. Thanks, osl. ps. K23time has helipads highscore! Can anyone beat it?
